The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through its innovation laboratory, IDB Lab, and in partnership with IDB Invest, the Israeli Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Israel, launch AGRInnova, an initiative to support Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) agribusinesses overcome technical, financial and knowledge barriers in the adoption of climate-smart agriculture technology solutions.
Aiming to catalyze innovative technologies that enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainability in the face of climate change, AGRInnova seeks to find, through a call for applications, LAC agribusinesses interested in piloting innovative climate-smart agriculture technology from Israeli startups.
LAC agribusinesses from the IDB's 26 borrowing member countries are eligible to participate, which include: Argentina, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela. They are invited to find more information and submit their applications using the online platform.
The selection of LAC agribusinesses and their technology solutions will be performed through a competitive process managed by the Israel Innovation Authority, IDB Lab, IDB Invest and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Israel. LAC agribusinesses matched with a technology company from Israel will receive support to pilot the solution and will also gain exposure to a broad range of potential opportunities through IDB Group's extensive network.
