LACChain and LACNet are now L-Net, a global platform for trusted digital innovation September 29, 2025

Washington, D.C., and Montevideo, September 29, 2025.

IDB Lab and LACNet announce the launch of L-Net, the new brand identity that unifies the trajectory of LACChain—an initiative led by IDB Lab since 2019—and LACNet, the nonprofit organization created in 2021 to catalyze the use of Web3 for development and inclusion.

With L-Net, Latin America and the Caribbean move from being a pioneering region to becoming a global benchmark, driving open and secure digital infrastructures that promote inclusion, transparency, and sustainability, with international projection.

A global vision, now with an identity that reflects it

Since its inception, LACChain has fostered blockchain adoption in 23 countries, with more than 100 use cases in areas such as digital identity, financial inclusion, traceability, and public services.

The creation of LACNet laid the foundation for a neutral governance model, key to scaling these solutions safely and sustainably.

Today, under the L-Net brand, this legacy is consolidated and expanded into new markets and international partnerships, positioning the region as a global reference for responsible digital innovation.

“The evolution toward L-Net reflects the maturity reached by the region in building open and trustworthy digital infrastructures. From IDB Lab, we will continue to promote initiatives that connect innovation with development, within a framework of inclusive collaboration,” said Irene Arias, CEO of IDB Lab.

“Our focus is not the ‘next big thing,’ but enduring digital public goods: identity solutions, verifiable credentials, and traceability that any institution can adopt with confidence. L-Net proves that Web3 can scale with clear rules, open standards, and an ecosystem that turns innovation into impact,” highlighted Mariana Kotik, CCO of L-Net.

Continuity, trust, and international reach

The transition to the new L-Net brand strengthens existing projects, partnerships, and infrastructure, all under a global vision.

  • Continuity: Strategic projects such as D-Wallets, FinWeb3, AgroWeb3 and CBWeb3, will not only achieve their objectives but also leave a legacy of digital public goods designed to scale globally and multiply their impact.
  • Trust: The infrastructures orchestrated by L-Net will maintain neutrality, security, and the use of open standards.
  • Global reach: A model of responsible technological innovation projected from Latin America to the world.

An international hub of open innovation

L-Net is an international nonprofit organization that integrates infrastructure, ecosystem, and standards, bringing together governments, companies, and multilateral organizations.

Its mission is to promote emerging technologies such as blockchain to develop secure, inclusive, and sustainable solutions, aligned with global regulatory frameworks and without the exclusive control of any single entity.
