WeXchange, IDB Lab’s platform focused on expanding access to opportunities for women entrepreneurs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) across Latin America and the Caribbean, has launched the fourteenth edition of its regional Women STEMpreneurs Competition.
With the support of EWA Capital, the initiative seeks to identify leaders of STEM-based startups in the region that are currently raising capital or planning to launch an investment round in the near future. Five selected entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their companies at GET Forum: the Global Entrepreneurship and Technology Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean, an IDB Group platform that promotes innovation for impact. The event will take place in Quito, Ecuador, from October 5–7, 2026.
The call for applications will be open from June 2 to June 30, 2026, and is aimed at startups that are raising capital, from pre-seed to Series B stage, with at least one woman serving as a founder or in a senior leadership position. The applicant must submit the application and represent the company throughout the selection process.
Eligible companies must have a significant technology component or operate primarily in STEM-related fields, including fintech, edtech, agtech, healthtech, biotech, e-commerce, mobility, logistics, cybersecurity, clean technologies, tourism, or SaaS solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises. Startups must have operations in at least one country in Latin America or the Caribbean and a business model with potential for regional or international expansion.
Selected participants will receive support to attend the in-person event, as well as opportunities to connect with investors and other key stakeholders in the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and results will be communicated no later than September 15, 2026.
WeXchange activities are made possible through the support of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi).
