Firma MoU entre BID Lab y Fondo de Fondos

IDB Lab and Corporación Mexicana de Inversiones de Capital, S.A. de C.V. (Fondo de Fondos México) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that renews and strengthens the strategic partnership between the two institutions, originally established in May 2023. The signing ceremony took place in Mexico City and was led by Magdalena Coronel, CIO of IDB Lab, and Liliana Reyes, Director of Fondo de Fondos.

During the first two years of the agreement, IDB Lab and Fondo de Fondos built an active working relationship across the venture capital investment cycle. This included sharing investment pipelines for early-stage fund managers in Mexico and across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), as well as exchanging insights on trends shaping the region's venture capital ecosystem.

The new five-year MoU formalizes two strategic areas of collaboration. The first focuses on identifying co-investment opportunities through the structured exchange of investment pipelines in venture capital funds and direct co-investments across Latin America, with particular emphasis on early-stage fund managers and high-impact sectors. The second focuses on institutional strengthening through the exchange of best practices in fund evaluation, ESG integration, development impact measurement, and governance as limited partners (LPs).

Since 1996, IDB Lab has invested in more than 100 venture capital funds across Latin America and the Caribbean, building one of the region's broadest networks of fund managers and impact investors. Fondo de Fondos México is the country's leading fund of funds and a recognized leader in Mexico's private equity and venture capital industry, playing a central role as an anchor LP within the national and regional ecosystem.

This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening ecosystems that enable more entrepreneurs to access financing, support networks, and opportunities to scale their solutions.

Through strategic partnerships such as this, IDB Lab continues to support the development of more dynamic, connected innovation ecosystems that create new opportunities for growth across Latin America and the Caribbean.
