GEORGETOWN — IDB Lab, the innovation and venture arm of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group), has approved a financing for PAS Cargo Guyana Inc. to support the digital transformation and geographic expansion of its logistics operations, improving access to logistics services for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across Guyana.
The project will help PAS Cargo modernize its operations and expand its services beyond Georgetown and Region 4, improving access to convenient, reliable and digitally enabled logistics solutions for businesses in emerging commercial centers and surrounding communities.
Founded in 2012, PAS Cargo Guyana is a Guyanese logistics and freight forwarding company specializing in the fulfillment of Less than Container Load imports into Guyana and serving primarily MSMEs. The company provides freight consolidation, customs brokerage, warehousing, and cargo processing services for goods imported from the United States and other international markets for distribution throughout Guyana.
With IDB Lab’s support, PAS Cargo will advance its growth strategy in Guyana. The company will develop a proprietary digital customer portal enabling clients to manage online booking, real-time cargo tracking, clearance of shipments and integrated digital payments without the need for visiting PAS Cargo's current location. The financing will also provide working capital geographical expansion including the establishment of satellite operations outside of the capital city.
These investments will allow PAS Cargo to extend its services to businesses outside the country’s main commercial center while enhancing operational efficiency and customer experience. The project will primarily benefit MSMEs in Guyana that are importing or exporting smaller shipments.
By combining physical expansion with digital tools, the company aims to make logistics services more efficient, transparent, and accessible especially for smaller businesses across Guyana.
By 2029, the project is expected to reach approximately 1,600 MSMEs, with 30% operating outside Region 4. The expanded logistics network and digital services are expected to help local businesses access markets more efficiently and participate in economic opportunities across Guyana.
