The Southern Cone, recognized as one of the most fertile agricultural territories in the world, faces a persistent paradox: according to the FAO, in 2023 more than 110 million people in the region experienced moderate or severe food insecurity, reflecting the difficulty of consistently accessing nutritious foods.

WASHINGTON — IDB Lab, the Inter-American Development Bank Group’s innovation and venture capital arm, announced a $2 million strategic investment in the 500 LatAm Seed Fund IV, managed by 500 LatAm. The fund will invest in approximately 40 early-stage tech startups in Latin America and the Caribbean, including in emerging ecosystems such as Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru, and Uruguay.
