The Success Story of the Outcomes for Change Fund

A coalition of funders, investors and implementing partners are seeking to improve how aid is delivered in Haiti—a sector that spends nearly US$1 billion annually. Their aim is to bring accountability, value for money and locally driven solutions to address the country’s greatest development challenges.

IDB Lab, the innovation and venture arm of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is partnering with 19Labs to pilot the use of drone technology for delivering critical medical supplies to some of Guyana's remote hinterland communities. 

This initiative enhances the country's expanding telemedicine and digital health network by providing a cost-effective, long-range, two-way drone-delivery system that can transport medical supplies in remote and geographically isolated regions.

The commitment was made in Barcelona, Spain, at the first Europe-Latin America and Caribbean Silver Economy Forum, which brought together over 200 global leaders, aging experts and representatives from key sectors.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), IDB Invest and IDB Lab, along with ”la Caixa” Foundation and key international partners, committed to working together on a joint development agenda to address challenges and opportunities arising from the rapid aging of societies, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Every day, around the world, more than 16 billion hours are invested in unpaid care work, the equivalent of 2 billion people working full-time without a salary. This effort is essential for daily life, yet it is rarely acknowledged as a fundamental pillar of social and economic development. In Latin America and the Caribbean, women take on between 68% and 80% of caregiving responsibilities at home, and in many cases, this burden limits their access to education, paid employment, and their physical and mental well-being.

Colombia is the first partner of the initiative as a biodiversity outcomes co-payer

CALI, Colombia – The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and its innovation and venture capital arm, IDB Lab, today launched the Jaguar Impact Initiative, a novel approach to enhance effectiveness, scalability and transparency to climate and biodiversity projects using innovative outcomes-based financing (OBF) mechanisms in the Jaguar Corridor, which spans 18 Latin America countries.
